Unfortunately, the Insignia NS-39D400NA14 TV remote is not a universal remote, and therefore, does not have the possibility of being programmable to your cable box. Thus, I would recommend that you purchase a more advanced remote, such as one of the Logitech-Harmony remotes seen here. The Xfinity X1 is one of the best DVRs in the cable TV industry, primarily because of its features and technology. But the X1 might not be the best when it comes to pricing (it's not the worst either).

I purchased a Comcast/Xfinity cable box off EBay, during early 2017 or late 2016. When I received the box I called Comcast to have it connected, and was told by Comcast that the box was no longer supported by Comcast, and they would not send signal to the box. i have a box that has one hdmi input and hdmi putputs - so i could have one going to the cable box and the other to apple tv. would that work? do i need to turn the cable box off to have the tv recognize the apple tv?

This seems to be a problem with many Comcast owners. I had a older Comcast box that hooked up to the tv differently. Since we upgrade to Comcast Triple Play, they put in a new box and the only way to hook it to my TV is through HDMI, which like others posting here, I only have one of on my TV. So far none of the responses have been very helpful with that. Can you get a splitter for HDMI that has 2 inputs (one for the cable box and one for the Apple TV), and one output to the TV. That seems like it would be the way to go, and unfortunately it will probably be another investment (which is a problem for many of us). Is there any other way??? Technically what you need isn't a splitter, it is an HDMI switch box. If your TV has only one HDMI port, yes you will need that extra piece of hardware. However, check the back of the Comcast box. It very well may have an optional three cable or coaxial output that would connect to the TV (or may not - I'm not a Comcast customer, but I know my Dish boxes do).
